Greetings RC Hawks members. I received the following email that I thought should be shared with all members.
Hello Konrad...
My name is Simon Nadler and I am the CFI, webmaster and I run the flight school for the Stetson Flyers, zone G, ½ an hour South-East of Ottawa.
Recently I have had several conversations with fellow pilots and friends regarding the lack of scale events in our region (excluding the giant scale aerobatics). I have also been frustrated with the distance and expense needed to travel to the larger scale events in the USA.
My executive, whilst supportive of such an event, are sceptical about the number of pilots and builders that would be drawn to this type of event so I have spoken to several people at MAAC and posted the idea on forums such as RC Canada. I on the other hand, would like to believe that there are plenty of pilots and aircraft that would enjoy an event like this in our region.
To make the event more accessible and to draw more pilots, I’m suggesting the following:
· A non-competitive scale fun fly event.
· Open to both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
· No minimum size requirement.
· Aircraft must have a full size counterpart.
· A one or two day event depending on interest.
· Would include a people’s and pilot’s choice award/prize.
· Would occur in June of 2013.
The reason I’m contacting you is to get the word out, and gauge interest so I can pitch the event to the Stetson executive. I would be very appreciative if you would use whatever means you have at your disposal to see how many of your fellow pilots, friends and club members would be interested and letting me know.
If you have any further suggestions or ideas, I’d also like to hear from you.
Thank you very much in advance
Simon Nadler
